Story

Hi All,

As most of you are aware , my beautiful, intelligent and amazing wife (can you tell who is writing this??...) was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma Cancer. Our lives were bumbling along quite nicely until one day she found a lump in her leg. After biopsies and scans we were then told the shocking news that Kelly had Melanoma Cancer that had already spread throughout her body. We then started on the journey that we are on today.

Kelly is the first one in her family to be diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer and didn't have any moles or skin cancers to warn her of what was lying beneath the surface. Finding a cure is so important to us as, like Breast Cancer, they are starting to believe that there is a genetic key that can make getting Melanoma Cancer more likely - so for our two fair haired, blue eyed, pale skinned children we need to make sure that they don't have to go through what Kelly is going through.

This year there will be approx.13,000 people diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer, which is more than 10% of all new cancers diagnosed making it the 4th most common cancer diagnosed.

Melanoma is the most common cancer in your Australians (15-39 year olds) making up more that 20% of all cancer cases and kills more young Australians (20-34 year olds) than any other single cancer.

I have set myself a goal to raise $15,000 of vital funds for melanoma research and I need your help with a donation, big or small. Donations are sent directly to Melanoma Institute Australia.

Every little bit helps to reach my target. Please dig deep for this great cause and help change the future of thousands of Australians diagnosed with melanoma each year.

Click 'Donate Now' to make a secure online donation. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will be issued with a receipt via email as soon as you make a donation.

Thank you so much for your support!

Daniel, Kelly, Riley and Caitie Wallis

P.S Enter the Toyota Raffle before 15 April for your chance to win a Toyota Yaris ZR. Tickets are $10 each with funds raised to support melanoma research too!
